Salie Abrahams

Dr Salie Abrahams hails from Bo-Kaap and obtained his PhD in Education at the Harvard University in the United States of America.

He was the curriculum director of the popular televised educational series called Takalani Sesame and is now the Vice-Rector of the Islamic Peace University of South Africa. He was also the Director of the Grassroots Educare Trust for two years. He is passionate about early childhood development and is an activist in progressive and Islamic parenting.

Awaatief Daniels

Awaatief Daniels has been a senior journalist in the Media Department of the  University of the Western Cape, for the past ten years.   Print journalism is not her only forte.  Awaatief has broadcasted the news on the popular Muslim Radio Station, the Voice of the Cape, for a number of years.  She has also used her journalism skills for  broadcasts on Radio Zibonele. She is known for prayer readings at Radio Sonder Grense. Since 1998  Awaatief has served as a Trustee of the Board of Trust (BOT) of the Muslim Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).  Currently she is the Vice-Chairperson of BOT. She also serves as a board member of the Hadj Timeless Journey, an entity sending needy and deserving

people on Hadj. She says that she spends the bulk of her time writing. She has written for the Boorhaanul Magazine Profile column since 1997.  Awaatief has taught Academic

Riyadh Walls

Sheikh Riyadh is a third generation South African. His great grandfather came to South Africa during the Boer War as an officer in the British army. Sheikh Riyadh embraced Islam in 1991 in Cape Town.  From 1995 to 2003 he journeyed in search of Islamic knowledge to many parts of the Muslim world. Some of the places where he spent time were Morocco, Medina, Yemen, Somalia and Syria. He is currently doing his masters in Arabic at UWC and is the resident Imam of Masjid Al-Jaami in Stegman Rd, Claremont. He also runs the Imam Suyuti Institute at Al-Jaami.

Mualima Mansura

Muallima Mansura is a native Tanzanian and is married to Sheikh Ridhaa Africa. They have a beautiful pigeon pair, Zainul Abiedeen and Zainab.

Muallima has studied in Tanzania, University of Qum and Syria. She is the guest lecturer on Radio 786’s Women Forum Thikrullah programme broadcast on Fridays. She also presents lectures at various venues in the Western Cape.

 

 



Haj Galiema Ajouhaar

Galiema Ajohaar Hajj Galiema Ajouhaar has been a Thikrullah leader in the community for 31 years. She has also been a lifelong Muallimah for adults and children. She studied Quran, Tajweed and Fiqh under the tutelage of her late father, Sheikh Mugamad Ghayr who officiated as an Imam at the Palm Tree Mosque in Long Street, Cape Town. The late Sheikh Ismail Hanif and many of the Shuyoog spent their formative years under the tutelage of her father. In the presence of the late Sheik Ahmad Behardien and other prominent Shuyoog, she was one of those examined on the disciplines of the Quran and Tajweed rules. Her Tammat took place at Mosque Shafee situated in Chiapinni Street, Bo-Kaap. Her late father, Sheikh Mugamad held the Al-Ataas Thikrullah sessions every Thursday and Sunday evenings at their home in 49 Dorp Street. He fostered a desire for his daughter to follow his example. He encouragedher to lead the Ladies Thikruallh and Da’wah and gave her Ijaz to do so. Haj Galiema received inspiration to start her own Thikrullah jamah while she was on Hajj, and realized this dream after her return from Hajj in 1976. This
