The Master Thesis of the late Achmat Davids : The Afrikaans of the Cape Muslims from 1815 to 1915 which mainly documented the story of Arabic-Afrikaans as used in the Bo-Kaap - the cultural precinct of the Cape Muslim community and the Cradle of Islam on the lower slopes of Signal Hill will soon be released in book form as "The Afrikaans of the Cape Muslims by Achmat Davids" by a Pretoria based Africana publishing house. This publication will hopefully shed more light on the existence of Cape Muslim Afrikaans as a useful primary source for broadening our historical understanding of the linguistic roots and nature of Afrikaans, especially the development of Cape Afrikaans as a dialect. According to the urban grapevine, a close colleague of the late Achmat Davids and a prominent figure in history of Afrikaans language circles have led the editorial team in transforming his Master thesis of the University of Natal , now UKZN into easy, readable book form. More book launch details to follow.

Oh those of you who believe that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah; and that Muhammad bin Abdillaah (peace and blessings be upon him) is the last and final messenger of Allaah, fasting is prescribed for you as it has been prescribed for those before you (in order) that you may become more Allaah conscious (through self-restraint and discipline) for a fixed number of days. But if any of you happens to be ill, or on a journey; the prescribed number of days may be made up for on later days; and on those who are capable of doing it but with hardship is a ransom of feeding an indigenous person.

But if s/he volunteers to do more than that then it would be better for her/him. It is of course better for you to fast if you should know. Ramadhaan is the month in which the Qur-aan was revealed as a guide unto humankind, with clear signs for guidance in judgement (between right and wrong). So whosoever witnesses this month should spend it in fasting; but if anyone of you happens to be ill or on a journey then the prescribed days may be made up by fasting

Mothering is not something you learn, it is something you do. It is at once the single most necessary job as well as the one in which you are completely alone. It is not an occupation you apply for, in fact, if it were, it would attract few applicants. From the moment your child is born, he steals not only your heart, he steals your life. From the moment of conception the child literally invades your space, and you are indentured for life. The Dictionary defines a mother as "a female who has borne offspring," but surely there must be more to it than just giving birth. The dictionary also says: "to give birth to,to watch over, nourish and protect".
